I’ve listened to this song over and over, and it still makes me smile.”

MIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, August 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Miami New Times’ Best Songwriter Alexa Lash and professional violinist Belinda Niling Stohner released their new single “Pero, Like (Magic City Anthem)” on June 7, 2026. The energetic pop song is a celebratory earworm that highlights local life in Miami – from the morning ventanita to the percussion-based instrumentation that drives Latin music – and makes it nearly impossible to avoid singing along.

The song itself is a mezcla of styles that reflects its Miami roots: nods to Celia Cruz and Miami Sound Machine, while staying true to Lash’s rock and singer-songwriter roots. It also has an Uptown Funk-esque groove and joyful energy.

“Belinda and I wanted to write a happy song to uplift others and unite the city during these uncertain and divided times. And we wanted to give people in our world a chance to be a part of it.”

Lash teamed up with Stohner to write, produce, and record this song in under 30 days. This was no small feat, as it included a sizable team of local talent: Ferny Coipel (a Hialeah recording legend), Marcel Salas (who has played bass for Miami staples, including Pitbull), Francisco Dimas (known for his trumpet performance with KC & the Sunshine Band), and an entourage of enthusiastic singers deemed the “Pero Like (Choir)”, from elementary school and music friends, to strangers turned fans met at the local Coral Gables Books & Books.

“The fact that we were able to pull in so many heavy hitters on such short notice is a testament to how much people believed in the idea and the song,” Stohner said. “I’ve listened to this song over and over, and it still makes me smile.”

This isn’t the first time Lash and Stohner have collaborated and likely won’t be the last. They met when Stohner transcribed and played the violin on Lash’s piano and strings album, “Heartbreak in Movements.” From there, they collaborated on more of Lash’s work, and eventually performed together at the Arsht Center with maestro cellist Jose Pradas.

Pero Like (Magic City Anthem) is out and available on all major streaming platforms.
