On November 26, 2025, Reuters reported that an October 7th letter from Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg informed lawmakers that the Pentagon had determined Baidu to be one of three companies to be newly added to a list of companies that aid the Chinese military. On this news, Baidu’s American Depositary Share (“ADS”) price fell $1.54, or 1.3%, to close at $116.34 on November 26, 2025. Then, on February 26, 2026, the Company reported fourth quarter and full year 2025 financial results, including total revenues of RMB129.1 billion ($18.46 billion), representing a 3% year-over-year decline, which the Company attributed primarily “to a decrease in Legacy Business, partially offset by an increase in Baidu Core AI-powered Business.” On this news, Baidu’s ADS price fell $7.50, or 5.65%, to close at $125.15 on February 26, 2026. Then, on August 18, 2026, the Company reported second quarter 2026 financial results, including revenue RMB 31.3B ($4.62 billion), representing a 4% year-over-year. Baidu’s management advised that the Company was “deliberately holding back on monetizing the AI search” which has “weighed on our advertising businesses in the near term.” The Company further stated that “[t]he competition in this industry remains very intense” and that “competition for users’ time and attention has intensified further.” Following this news, Baidu’s ADS price fell $13.25, or 12.73%, to close at $90.87 on August 18, 2026.
